HELPING THOSE IMPACTED BY THE DISASTERS IN TEXAS, LOUISIANA, AND NEPAL

This month has been harrowing for those affected by natural disasters throughout the world. Our hearts go out to everyone impacted by the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey in Texas and Louisiana this week, and for the people of Nepal who have experienced a catastrophic flash flood earlier in the month.

At Aveda, we immediately reached out to partners on the ground to help where needed.

Texas and Louisiana
Save The Children

We having been working with our long-time partner Save The Children and granted them $10,000 to provide immediate relief packages including clean water, food and hygiene supplies for children and their families during this urgent time of need. A portion of funds will also be utilized to provide long-term support to repair water systems and infrastructure in schools and child care centers.

If you would like to make a donation towards their important work, please visit Save the Children.

Houston SPCA

Along with helping people, we encourage all to help our four legged friends, as well as birds and sea life that are being affected by Hurricane Harvey.

We have given a $5,000 grant to the Houston SPCA, Houston’s first and largest animal protection organization, working diligently to provide water, food and shelter for animals displaced by the disaster. Please visit Houston SPCA to learn more about how you can support them directly.

Gulf Restoration Network
We are working with our Earth Month Partner Gulf Restoration Network to direct a portion of the funds raised through our 2017 Earth Month campaign to support both immediate and long-term recovery efforts throughout Texas and Louisiana. Please visit Gulf Restoration Network to learn more about how you can support them directly.

Salon and Spa Relief

Donations are being accepted via the Salon and Spa Relief Fund, established by one of Aveda’s business partners, Neill Corporation, which helps salon and spa owners, and professionals, rebuild their lives and business after natural disasters.

ANSAB in Nepal

In Nepal, we are working with ANSAB (Asia Network for Sustainable Agriculture and Bioresources), who were there during the devastating earthquakes that hit the country in 2015.

Early last week we processed a $10,000 grant to ANSAB to provide help for those affected by the flash flood in the Nawalparasi district of Nepal. Nepal is especially dear to our hearts as our relationship with Nepal began in 2007 when we started to work with the Himalayan Bio-Trade (HBTL) papermaking cooperative, the creators of the lokta bark paper that today is our signature holiday giftwrap. We are in constant contact with our Nepali friends, ensuring they are able to rebuild, and move successfully forward after enduring so many horrific natural disasters. Read our last update here, on the work with ANSAB after the earthquakes.

Since 2012, ANSAB has received funds from our Earth Month Light the Way™ Candle through Global Greengrants Fund, an international non-profit organization that provides grants to grassroots groups to support communities to solve environmental problems. ANSAB is deeply rooted with the Nepali people and its communities.

Everyone throughout the world affected by the recent natural disasters are in our thoughts.
